Nasheed Mailer Slams Tyus

Posted on 02 August 2006 by Antonio D. French

It’s hot all over, but it might be getting even hotter in the 60th State Rep District. Jamilah Nasheed’s campaign today mailed out a piece that asks voters if they want to go “backwards” or move “forward.” The mailer slams Nasheed’s opponent, Sharon Tyus, on her record as the former alderman of the 20th Ward.

“Improved her home and block while the rest of the ward decayed,” Nasheed’s piece charges. “Refused to join the Aldermanic Black Caucus,” “Fought against the city’s first black mayor,” and “Arrogant to the core,” it says.

This is a good looking piece.

  2. STAR JONES Says:

Nasheeds campaign literature is telling the truth about Sharon Tyus!

Jamilah Nasheed has laid down the gauntlet. It’s on now because Jamilah Nasheed had someone call on a radio station and viciously attack Tyus’ relationship with her mother.

This went to unheard depths of lowness in politics. It is unacceptable to talk about a mother in the black community, and nobody respects someone that attacks a mother and daughter relationship.

Jamilah crossed the line and any form of literature attack (expect one) will be considered acceptable now. We have a 12 round fight going on now as predicted, Ali versus Foreman in the Thrilla in Manila.

Once again Tyus will take the role of Ali, and Nasheed surprisingly will take the role of Foreman. Nasheed should have kept this fight above board regardless of how hard she can punch, because she is fighting the GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!!! THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!! WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY LAW SCHOOL DEBATE CHAMPION AGAINST THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!

The knockout will be coming, don’t close your eyes. Remember Muhammad Ali said that if you blink to slow during his fight, you may miss a round. Fans don’t close your eyes!!!!

    THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!

    Jeez, Sharon. (aka anonymous #1)

Feeling a little full of yourself tonight?

Tyus was good for old 20th ward. Sometimes to make an omelet, one has to break some eggs.

I still am very grateful to Sharon for all she did.

The night that Schoemehl and company wouldn’t consider public input when they closed the school Sharon had the best comment, moving international middle school into Scullin. Slay’s puppets wouldn’t consider any local input, only MJLM.

You can’t move forwards, if your candidate uses the backwards tactic of negative campaigning. It’s a shame Nasheed can’t just win on her own merit, rather than bash Tyus.

Jamilah did get Tyus below the belt…but she needed to get hit. Tyus is out of control all the way. When she came to the 4th Ward meeting to speak her mind, she made me sick. I was a fomer resident of the 20th ward when she was in office and I didn’t care for her then. Jamilah that ad was low…but then again so is Tyus!

where is the humility. anonymous on august 2nd said she was greatest of all time. well the blows that were blown in the first piece sent out by Tyus were low blows and not to mature for an experienced politician. some are taught to be peaceful until war. So if you cant take the counter punches after youve thrown hard punches get out the ring. keep it peaceful after all people are not just watching you all as poloticians but they are looking at you as individuals and seeing what kind of integrity both of you hold we need individuals that possess great deals of intergrity(like Jamilah Nasheed) that just wont give lip service but will be about action. it is imperative for everyone to come out and vote Auguest 8.
    peace

So Nasheed led the fight against the charter reform amendments? News to me.

As for fighting the city’s first black Mayor, I’m glad that Tyus did that instead of uncritically supporting the bad policies of Bosely, Jr.

(For the record, I have no preference between the two candidates featured on the mud-slinging mailer.)

I really find it interesting when these canidates use language like “help to reduce crime” “worked for gang prevention in stlps” because if you look at the neighborhoods there still a mess! Now I will say this, I was checking out the crime stats for the city and found out that the C.W.E. is two and a half times as worse than any neighborhood on the northside, see for yourself:

  11. Anonymous Says:

The CWE is also more than 2.5 times more populous than any northside neighborhood. You can’t just look at total crime, but also crime rates, or crimes per person.

Isn’t it interesting how the “grass roots” candidate has the most expensive pieces of literature?
The “Arrogance” of Nasheed is amazing! She acts as if no one else was involved in the Charter fight except her. She takes credit for the I70, charter admendments and numerious other lies in her literature.
I challenge her to indentify just 1 block unit that she started and she’s still speaking to those same youths after school.

The 60th district doesn’t need an ex-convict whose husband is an ex-con running the district. We don’t need thugs and intimidation in our district. And we certainly need someone with more education than a GED.
Nasheed is going to lose this election. Wednesday can’t come soon enough so that the real voters, not the signs will vote. She has angered the base that Tyus has always had who know about her hard work in the old 20th Ward. This is the first time most of that base gets to vote for Tyus. When Tyus ran in the 1st ward election, a lot of the old 20th didn’t get to vote for her. Nasheed watch out. Now you will know the wrath of the old 20th!

Nasheed miscalculated with this piece and should have continued with her lame Who is Jamiliah Nasheed and What do you think of Jamiliah Nasheed ,to the last I’ll fight with my last breath to save Medicaid piece. All colorful and glossy, saying nothing.

Hey Antonio, why haven’t you loaded the comparison piece that the Tyus campaign made that compares the candidates in their accomplishments, education, time in the district, political endorsement, etc?
Jamilah has lived in the District 7 years, with a GED, no Ward endorsements except the 1st and no message or experience. Why isn’t Fahim Nasheed, her alleged husband registered to vote from her address if they are married?

    Inquiring minds want to know!

once again either someone is extremely arrogant when it comes to ms. tyus or ms. tyus is arrogant im not sure. remember individuals are watching you alls character.. Im pretty young and when i speak to older people about the elections they all remember tyus taking people property and are rather bitter. people forgive but they dont always forget.so anonymous on 8/5/06 while so busy in bringing up info about husbands and how long a individuals lives in the district lets look at the real issue. Stop hitting below the belt fight fairly.
