Clay: Impeach Cheney

St. Louis Congressman Lacy Clay has joined with Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) in filing articles of impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney.

On April 17, Kucinich wrote a letter to his Democratic colleagues espressing his intention to fill the legislation. “Dear Colleague,” wrote the Presidential candidate, “This week I intend to introduce Articles of Impeachment with respect to the conduct of Vice President Cheney. Please have your staff contact my office . . . if you would like to receive a confidential copy of the document prior to its introduction in the House.”

Since then, only Clay and Rep. Jan Schakowsky of Illinois have added their names to House Resolution 333, which states:

“Despite all evidence to the contrary, the Vice President actively and systematically sought to deceive the citizens and Congress of the United States about an alleged threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction…”

“The Vice President subverted the national security interests of the United States by setting the stage for the loss of more than 3300 United States service members; the loss of 650,000 Iraqi citizens since the United States invasion; the loss of approximately $500 billion in war costs which has increased our Federal debt; the loss of military readiness within the United States Armed Services due to overextension, lack of training and lack of equipment; the loss of United States credibility in world affairs; and the decades of likely blowback created by the invasion of Iraq.

“In all of this, Vice President Richard B. Cheney has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as Vice President, and subversive of constitutional government, to the prejudice of the cause of law and justice and the manifest injury of the people of the United States. Wherefore, Vice President Richard B. Cheney, by such conduct, is guilty of an impeachable offense warranting removal from office.”

It makes my blood boil to see my congressman waste his time on this.

Definitely not representing me.

What an embarrasment.

CWEGuy, I personally think that if the bar for impeachment was lowered so low as to included lying about sex, then lying about the cause of war is DEFINITELY grounds for impeachment!!!

Let’s not end with Cheney either!

PS: Where are all the other Democrats on this? Pussies.

Don’t be silly. He wasn’t impeached for lying about sex.

He was impeached for perjury. And, it wasn’t about sex.

He was impeached for perjury. And, it wasn’t about sex.

De Nile is more than a river in Egypt!

Lets be clear, Clinton was impeached for perjuring himself about sex, in a politically motivated sham of an investigation-turned fishing expedition into nonexistent corruption in an Arkansas land deal where the Clintons actually lost money and no worng doing was ever uncovered. It should have never happened, and was a waste of everyone’s time and tax payer money.

There are far, far better grounds to impeach Cheney, Bush and pretty much anyone else in this Administration.

It’s quite amazing to me that Republicans should be surprised that anyone should suggest that anyone in the Bush administration should he held accountable for their massive corruption. I thought they stood for personal responsibility and the rule of law. Apparently it’s not the case. Surprise surprise.

It’s about TIME! Finally a member of the Missouri Dems that is beginning to act like a Dem! Time to oust the fascists Cheney & Bush. Slay’s next.

Missouri Yankee

Why stop at Cheney? Let’s impeach the president.

it is important to go after Cheney first

then use the findings to impeach bush

bs…the buck stops WHERE?

I have often wondered what Lacy has been doing in Washington all these
years. Finally, he is doing something I can truly support and be proud that he is my congressman. Someone has to have the balls or breasts to stand up and say hell no, that is crap that they are doing is not right.

I mean look at the lives lost, the money spent and misused, Halliburton billions, the lies, the manipulations.

Clinton only got a mutually consenting bl_w job. So what he lied about something that was none of our business anyway.
Cheney and Bush F*&ked the American people, stole their money, lied about it, and left them with the bill! Speak truth to power Clay.

I truly hope that the other democrats have the courage to support this. For too long they have been too weak to to say hell no. They haven’t stood for anything for fear of a backlash and they have fallen for all kinds of crap that was not in the best interest of the American people.

Impeachment?

This is simply grandstanding.

Everyone is busy on 2008.

Little too late in the game.

Besides, they should be worried about overriding the veto.

YEAH! Get Darth Cheney! After all, Dick Vader is the real President. Once we got him secured in the bag and the bag has successfully sunk to the bottom of the river, get that pinhead Dumya 43. Then, 43’s consort Condi. Then, the disgraced Colin Powell. Then, when the Hague has completed its sentencing, Dumsfeld, in absentia, of course. Then Arlen ‘Magic Bullet’ Spectre for his wreckless political fence riding, that rights’ ripping codicil in the Patriot Act, and the Kennedy Magic Bullet that hit three people a total of 13 times. Then all the architects of the PNAC document that brought us Tuesday, 11.SEP.2001, yet failed to justify destruction and occupation of Iraq. Then Karl Rove, the architect from hell. Then Poppy 41 for Iran-Contra and Dessert Storm, who on 11.SEP.1991 initiated the New World Order, and was President for 12 years of Reaganomics. If we don’t start holding these evil-doers accountable, this is only going to be a police-state, a forth reich. I personally commend Mr. Clay.
