The District’s Day in Court

Posted on 11 June 2007 by Antonio D. French

School District attorneys will be in the Cole County Courthouse Wednesday making the case that the State Board of Education acted outside of the law when it voted to strip St. Louis Public Schools of its accreditation.

Circuit Judge Richard G. Callahan will hear the case and will be asked to impose an injunction preventing the creation of the Transitional School District which is scheduled to takeover the city’s schools on Friday.

The case will be heard Wednesday on the 2nd floor of the Cole County Courthouse, 301 East High Street, in Jefferson City.

My searching skills have failed me.

Not only can I not find out who gambaro is replacing on the state board of disenfranchisement of people who vote unwisely,

there is not much information about Judge Callahan. He seems to be the one who is hearing the case on whether the MO school funding formula is … acceptable.

He has a lot to decide about.

he does not like the idea of messing with people’s voting rights—good sign.

An evidentiary hearing was held in Cole County Circuit Court in August and September 2006, and on September 14, 2006, the court (Judge Richard G. Callahan) held the portion of RSMO 115.427 that requires voters to present certain forms of photo identification is unconstitutional and entered a declaratory judgment and injunction forbidding state and county officials from implementing the law.

sticks up for the little guy–

The court determined that not only did the legislature not designate a deadline but the Missouri State Lottery Commission’s own past actions showed that Paul E. Barnett shouldn’t lose his winnings just because he failed to cash the ticket in on time. The court affirmed Cole County Circuit Court Judge Richard G. Callahan’s ruling in Paul E. Barnett vs. Missouri State Lottery Commission.

I read a bunch of other stuff on Callahan.

SLPS has about as fair a judge as they could hope for.
