“I’d like to thank all the little people…”

The folks at St. Louis Magazine were nice enough to send two attractive women over today to present me with a plaque and a couple of early copies of their July issue, which includes yours truly on its annual “A-List”.
Thank you to the editors for taking note of our efforts. And thanks especially to the thousands of people who read this blog regularly and care enough about what’s going on around us to search for information, work on campaigns, and (if you’re really nuts) run for office.

I am relieved that my posts did not disqualify you from this honor.

Take this as constructive criticism—and it goes for all of st. louis’ media—I wish there was some place to regularly address loose ends. Stories thrown out there and abandoned without explanation.(that happens less here, than anywhere i know of)Here is an example regarding mohela, first posted here:

    ——————————————————————————–
State Rep. Clint Zweifel (D-Florissant) is currently leading an effort to oppose the bill by gathering the 87,000 signatures needed to put the plan on the 2008 ballot in order for the public to decide.

No response when i asked for follow up.

Finally, I saw some people bragging about zweiful on arch city–he seems like a good guy– I got a little rude:

I want to FIND OUT IF:

    1. He was going to do this, but it has been dropped.

    2. He is still working on this.

    3. It was bad information posted on pubdef—he knows nothing about what was posted in first place.

    A guy named patrick responded—

The Post-Dispatch did follow the story. The ballot language was eventually filed by a former MOHELA board member, not Zweifel.

That individual later withdrew the language when no monetary support came forward.

Allan Purdy is the former board member.

I could not find anything about the ballot thing, or allan purdy(no relation to Bill?)when I searched the pd.

So—I have this loose end kind of tied up—

Very well-deserved! I have come to rely on this site for the “real news.” I’ve often wondered if you have some clones because somehow you cover so many political happenings! Do you ever sleep??

No resting on your laurels—new assignment—–the associated press story in the Post Dispatch today talked about the 2500 Missouri students signed up for virtual school over their home computers.

No explanation of a previous story saying the company it is outsourced to has hired no teachers.

The pd has never , to my knowledge, said anything about slps having their own virtual school setup. Maybe the new board has dropped the idea—it would be an embarrassment to Blunt if they did it better than he did.

  19. Bill Streeter Says:

Hey thats great! They gave you a plaque for that? Cool!

i have only been reading since Spring 07, but have to say that you really capture the spirit of the political melee in Eastern Missouri. Please keep up the good work. Good to see another writer on board. Keep expanding!

You deserve the honor and recognition for all the work you do.

    Thank you!
