Beef Between SEIU and Pro-Vote

Posted on 24 September 2007 by Antonio D. French

There is a growing rift between two of the more active organizations in Missouri Democratic politics.

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is charging the liberal political action group Missouri Pro-Vote with “union-busting.” Meanwhile, Pro-Vote says SEIU Local 2000 and the Brotherhood of Union Support (BUSS) are using intimidation and harassment to force its five St. Louis employees to join the union.

SEIU has filed a formal complaint with the National Labor Relations Board. Pro-Vote has responded by kicking SEIU off its steering committee.

Does this mean that ProVote is going to move in St. Louis? Its offices are in the same building as SEIU.

They could move into ball park village. Maybe the city will give them some sort of tax break.

Boy, we sure know how to self-destruct here on the left. It’s amazing how some of the most brilliant political minds can be so vulnerable to irrational pettiness.

On a different note, is is true that Margarida Jorge is leaving (or has left) for a job in D.C.? If so, that’s really bad news for local progressives.

    Ahhhhh, Unions. Gotta love ‘em.

Margarida has left already and yes she is in DC. It is interesting to note that the BUSS ‘picket’ did not actually have any provote staff in it.
If that is how BUSS thinks unions work then that explains why BUSS only has 7 members. They are pathetic.
