Dr. Bourisaw Support Rally
Thursday, February 28, 2008, the Special Administrative Board held a meeting at the Saint Louis Public Schools’ headquarter. While the meeting was in order, parents, teachers, students, voters, and tax payers gathered outside the building to show there support for Dr. Diana Bourisaw.
The rally started at 5:30 PM. Candles were handed out and lit while participants of the rally read letters from supporters that couldn’t make it, discussed other issues, and introduced new ideas on helping the SLPS. This rally was a public statement about the decision to seek another superintendent.
Nearly 55 supporters gathered sharing the same opinion about Dr. Bourisaw. They stressed how Diana Bourisaw took this position during a difficult time in the SLPS. She made every effort to respond to emails, phone calls, and questions asked concerning the public schools. “No one could ever do the job Dr. Bourisaw has done and it was a big mistake to fire her,” said many of the teacher and parent supporters.
Around 7:00PM, everyone went into room 108 in the Administration building where the meeting was being held. They lined the walls and silently continued to support Dr. Bourisaw.

The SLPS did not construct the track. The mayor, his appointees, the board members he helped get elected, several members of the Mo. school board, and assorted others built that track.
Lee…with all due respect…do you know the true history of what has happened in the SLPS for the last 7-8 years? Slay? Roberti? Archibald? R. Jackson? O’Brien? Clinkscale? Spampinato? Buford? Williams? etc?
If we continue to dwell so frequently in the past about all the mistakes we’ve made over the years. Its like a woman whos been hurt by men. She finally gets the good one, and treats im bad because shes afraid shell be hurt again. Thats how the school district treated Dr. Bourisaw. And I refuse to go into a history theory about the past. in the past the district was run by an elected board not representives from the state. Were in a new age that if we all work hard enough won’t last long.

In most respects a person who goes out of his or her way to help someone should be rewarded. To be fired is not a reward in any way. I believe Dr. Bourisaw is an honorable person and to see her go in such a way is just another stake on the train track the SLPS had constructed leading to destruction.
