Hand Over that Tax Rebate to Help the School District?
A group of parents, staff, and elected board members from St. Louis Public Schools have come together to start a fund that will support the appeal of the court case against the state of Missouri. Before it’s too late, the 600 For Our Schools group wants to encourage more people to take action in what is happening to the public schools and the people that are being affected by the decisions being made.
Many people will be receiving a $600 tax rebate from the federal government in May. This group is asking able citizens to reinvest their rebate into the future of SLPS. To help, they are inviting everyone who can to pledge as much of there $600 tax rebate as possible. Their immediate goal is to have 100 pledges by April 1.
According to the group, a thriving democracy relies on a healthy public school system.
“Public education, especially public education in the city, is under a systematic political attack that threatens to destroy an institution that was built with care over the past century,” said the group’s Internet appeal. The situation with our public schools is a serious matter, they say, and all should take it seriously.

I am wondering if I am alone—maybe it is my age—computer stuff is hard for me—but I am having a hard time keeping track of what is where, and who has responded to things—I miss the straight down the page orderliness of having all stories posted in chronological order—if I try hard enough, I can sort it out—3 decades ago I wrote a song called “Improvement is prohibited”—making fun of people like who I have become.
Joe, at the bottom of the sidebar to the right, which is on every page, you can see sections called “Recent Posts” and “Recent Comments”.
kjoe,
I am having the same trouble. The old format was much easier to follow. Sorry Antonio but I think you lost some of the feeling of ongoing “conversation” when you changed your site.

As I have gone along—I have discovered little things like the recent posts—so I was able to spot what Jim said within 10 seconds—and, of course, I am messing up the tax rebate post—not trying to cause trouble, just trying to get it all in perspective. It is a year of change—-I hope.
One thing which sort of puzzles me—I guess one way to illustrate it would be to ask about the thread—BOURISAW TO BE REPLACED [Updated x3]
It has been at the top of the Popular list for 2 or 3 weeks—nothing has been added since the 31st post—-so, is it there because of number of posts, or number of people who read it? Gotta figure out one detail at a time.

i believe this form of genorsity is very unique. i am glad some one thought up something like this for a district that really needs the support. If I had the money I’d join in to.
