Kacie Triplett: An Alderwoman With Style

Sixth Ward Alderwoman Kacie Starr Triplett, 27, is six feet of civil servant style.

She’s only been in office for one year, but her style of dress is classic, hearkening back to the days of Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn and her grandmother, a seamstress who still makes outfits for Triplett today.

Kacie Starr TriplettPictured here in a mint green coat dress from The Time Boutique at 922 Washington Avenue and peak-a-boo black heels by Nine West, Triplett dresses for success with her shoulders back and head held high.

Triplett comes from political lineage. Her grandfather, John Bass, deceased, was a state senator, city comptroller and alderman.

“It’s in the blood,” she said. “Doctors breed doctors. Lawyers breed lawyers … I guess politicians make politicians.”

The same goes for her sense of style. Her grandmother has made Triplett clothes since she was an infant.

“She made all my prom dresses and special event suits,” Triplett said. “It’s been a blessing because she was able to do all that for stuff for free.”

It was also helpful to Triplett’s height. Being so tall, she can’t buy pants off the rack. When she was younger she was nervous about her height and slouched a lot, but now she holds herself with confidence and pride.

“It took a while, but I’m not shrinking so I might as well embrace it,” she said.

Despite her love of clothes, Triplett’s not a big fan of shopping and her public servant paycheck isn’t generous enough to blow the bank of designer duds, but she makes it work by focusing on the best quality garment, investing in clothing that is stylish and will last.

Triplett shops the downtown boutiques as well as Macy’s and Nordstrom. And while she cares about her clothes, she cares about the city and her constituents more.

“I want to make a difference,” Triplett said. “I love this city with a passion. I tell people all the time I will fall on the sword for the city of St. Louis.”

  1. Why does Kacie Triplett wear those weaves? She would be so beautiful without that weave on her head. The weave looks so obvious and it takes away from her height. I would love to take Kacie Triplett out on a date, but only without that weave on her head.

What if there was a strong wind blowing on our date? I would not want to chase that weave down the street, and I don’t think that I can run fast enough to catch it. Look, I always want to have a good weavening, I mean a good evening but I don’t want to work too hard.

I admire that she patterns her fashions after Audrey Hepburn, but I am not looking to play a major role in the remake of “Gone with the Wind.”

I would pay for Kacie Triplett to get her real hair done. I understand the ridiculous pay the Aldermen receive from the City of St. Louis. Kacie Triplett should get kudos for getting rid of those fake contact lens’, but now it is time for the weave to go. You are a beautiful black woman overall.

In the end, Kacie Triplett can get it anytime!

  3. Hey! Unbeweavable, stop knocking the weaves. I thought her hair was very Beyonce-esque, but classy. Weaves are a part of American (fashion) life. Celebrities were them, white and black. Everyone from the pastor’s wife to teenage girls wear them. They’re more mainstream than ever. So natural hair is great, but hair weaves aren’t anathema. If you can’t grow it, buy it!

That said, the pictures turned out great, Antonio!

  5. Reply to Unbeweavable: Kacie Starr looks good with or with out weave. You must be really insecure about yourself if Kacie’s weave is the only negative comment you can make about her. Now tell me again why they interviewed Kacie instead of you. Cricket noises…………… That’s what I thought. Kacie is a beautiful person inside and out. Like I’ve said in the past, haters are going to talk about Kacie regardless. Keep your head up Kacie and continue to out shine those haters like the Starr that you are.

  6. Unbeweaveable, quit hating on the beautiful, educated and smart Ms. Triplett!! Women will give up their weaves when you give up your Viagra and pills to enhance your small sized sex organ (those pills don’t work so your woman is not sexually satisfied by your tiny organ).

  7. Kacie is attractive and dresses very nice, however what’s important for officials is what they do, not how they look.

Moreover, if we are going to talk about fashion, then perhaps PubDef should hire a part time fashion correspondent. I have an idea of who should get the job. Bruno!

  8. I thoght this was a political blog. Aren’t there som serious political goings-on in Stl Mo or the US. Who cares what kind of clothes these people wear. Can you please write some articles about City Hall happenings. Or maybe you could do a series commemorating the 40th year since MLK was killed. Blogs like this one are rare in StL. You are a black person. You witness every day all this foolishness that is served to us in StL. Our radio stations can tell of the next place to go kick it. But they have no open forum to discuss the real deal here. Forget the PD. How many bloggers are out there capturing the real face of the LOU? Don’t allow your blog to become like these irresponsible forms of media that is avaialble. Give us real politics.

    Thank You
