Former Missouri Governor and U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft has endorsed State Rep. Jane Cunningham’s bid for the state Senate. He will also appear at a fundraiser for the Republican candidate.
“I wholeheartedly endorse Jane Cunningham for the Missouri State Senate,” Ashcroft said in a written statement. “I have known Jane, and her husband Gary, for thirty years. I can vouch for her integrity, her energetic work ethic, and her commitment to advancing legislation that provides tax relief, economic vitality and a quality education for all children. She has served with distinction as a Missouri State Representative for eight years, Chair of the critical House Education Committee and in leadership positions nationally. Jane has my enthusiastic support. ”
“I’m obviously thrilled to have General Ashcroft’s endorsement,” Cunningham said. “His unparalleled reputation as a man of ability, principle, faith and fairness propelled him to an amazing career of public service for which Missourians and Americans are grateful and stand proud.”
Cunningham also announced that Ashcroft will be the honored guest and speaker at an event for her State Senate race to be held in St. Louis County on Monday, June 16th.

General Ashcroft? Does he have a military career that I was unaware of?

Don’t Ashcroft and her husband both live in D.C?
Can either even vote for her?

Great pickup for Cunningham… She’s had a good week

Wouldn’t think they could vote for her. I think he lives in VA

Wouldn’t his endorsement be a bad thing? He did lose to Mel Carnahan.

No, this endorsement is a wonderful thing! GO JANE!

Wow, Trixi and Douglas, that is the best you could come up with to try and discredit him? Oh a huge political figure who won a lot of elections through out the years can not vote for her, so there for this is bad for Jane Cunningham… Oh man, he lost an election becuase everyone knows that politicians credit is only as good as his ability to stay in office, and we should forget about the Great things he has done during his YEARS OF SERVICE…
This is great for Jane!

The guy is a fascist who pissed on the Constitution. And he’s a horrible singer. He’s the epitome of what’s wrong with this Country.
But I suppose those in West County prefer his methods.

Let’s hope the same Missouri voters who are trying to bring Obama to the White House will just as actively kick this lady back to Chesterfield. Maybe her heart is in the right place (maybe) but her education policies are SO BAD for urban youth they border on criminal.
(and VERY anti-labor)

People from West County shouldn’t make education policy. They exist in a different word than that of the inner ring. Their schools don’t have the same problems. How can they relate?

Agreed…most can’t.

The Wicked Witch of West County has got to go. I live in Chesterfield. Jane wants to destroy our schools too. She attended the Parkway School Board meeting last night and didn’t even clap once for any of the kids who made National Merit Scholar. She was only there to stir things up and try to gain some political advantage because of a controversy at our school. People in Chesterfield are finally starting to wake-up to Jane Cunningham. Let’s just hope it’s not too late to take action.
