Mayor Francis Slay’s House is for Sale [UPDATED]

Posted on 18 April 2008 by Antonio D. French

According to Post-Dispatch columnist Deb Petterson:

St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay and his wife, Kim, have their house on Oleatha Avenue near Ivanhoe Avenue in the Lindenwood Heights subdivision listed for sale at $419,900. The listing is with the mayor’s brother, Tom Slay, who is with Re/Max Results on Hampton Avenue. The house is a four-bedroom, 2½-bath Cape Cod. The Slays are moving to a new house in the Boulevard Heights neighborhood near Carondelet Park.

UPDATE: Jake Wagman at the Post-Dispatch has made an interesting observation:

The mayor is leaving the 23rd Ward - where his family has deep political roots - and heading into what is, for a lifelong Democrat, enemy territory.

Slay’s new home is in the 12th Ward, represented by Alderman Fred Heitert - the Board of Aldermen’s only Republican.

This is a GREAT house on a really nice street.
4 bedroom, 2.5 baths and approx. 2000 sqr feet with a lot of updates!
It offers a huge master bedroom too. Also featuring a nice yard with an attractive 2 car garage. Walking distance to Lindenwood Park. This is a very nice home.

That abount is CRAZY for that area. its about 200,000 to high.

Expect who ever bus that house ether gets a fact contract with the city, fat tifs, or a fat appointment.

  10. Douglas Duckworth Says:

Why would Slay want to leave the 23rd? His father runs the Ward.

  11. Tom Slay Says:

It wasn’t really a matter of wanting to leave the 23rd ward, it was about wanting a “new” home for their first time with a first floor master bedroom. The choices are limited. What a great developement in Carondelet.
My father will certainly continue to watch over the 23rd ward and he gave his support to Francis and Kim on this move.
    It’s all good.

  12. Douglas Duckworth Says:

Well, at least he didn’t move to Botanical Heights.

I must ask though if it matters where the Mayor lives relative to the North/South location.

Did Bosley Jr. move to Midtown when he was Mayor?

    Simply asking.

I’m not so sure moving South would solve Slay’s embattled situation anyway.
