Clay, Williamson Endorse El-Amin

Committeeman and state rep candidate Joe Palm is rapidly finding himself alone on a political island.

First, his committeewoman and ally, Pat Moss, withdrew her name from seeking re-election. Then he found himself with a serious opponent (Khatib Waheed) to his 26th Ward Committeeman post while at the same time trying to unseat State Rep. Talibdin “T.D.” El-Amin. And now, his ward’s alderman is publicly endorsing El-Amin for re-election.

The following press release from El-Amin’s campaign reports the endorsement of both Alderman Frank Williamson and Congressman Lacy Clay:

State Representative Talibdin “TD” El-Amin received yet another boost in his re-election bid. Congressman William “Lacy” Clay, 1st District and 26th Ward Alderman Frank Williamson announced the endorsement of Representative “TD” El-Amin.

“Congressman Clay and the Clay family have a long, and rich tradition in national, state and local politics and have been instrumental in shaping the political, social and economic landscape of St. Louis, and it’s a tremendous honor to have the Congressman’s support.”

Joining Congressman Clay in his support of El-Amin is Alderman Frank Williamson, 26th Ward.

“Representative El-Amin has demonstrated a strong ability to lead, his “hands-on, style of people-politics,” and his ability to build bridges makes him best suited to lead the 57th district,” stated Williamson.

“El-Amin has shown he’s not afraid to take on tough issues, his accessibility and commitment to engage the community and take a forward role in its stewardship makes him worthy of my support. I look forward to continuing to work with Representative El-Amin in his efforts to continue progress in the 57th District”, stated Congressman Clay.

El-Amin has garnered the support of other political heavyweights. Former Mayor Freeman Bosley Jr., St. Louis’s first African-American mayor has also thrown his support behind El-Amin’s candidacy, as well as Pearlie Evans, long-time community activist and former top aide to former Congressman Bill Clay.

Palm challenged Hubbard if I’m correct. How does his platform differ from El-Amin’s?

What do you mean “challenged Hubbard”? Palm never ran against Rodney Hubbard.

Sorry it was back in 2006 and he ran against TD El-Amin.

Well what can Joe Palm do after Congressman Clay, Alderman Williamson, and Representative T.D. El-Amin put the school choice voucher money, land assemblage bill money, Republican money, and the kitchen sink against him?

Does T.D. El-Amin really even need the people to vote for him?

Our community and our politics are marginalized, because oft times people like the latest post marginalize the overall scope and needs of our community; relegating them to one issue. The latest post is obviously either Joe Palm, or a Clay or El-Amin hater, because it is void of any objectivity. The differing concerns on issues would be more legitimated if people would offer intelligible, objective reasoning as to their positions. Rhetoric doesn’t or won’t work anymore. The people in our community are more intelligent than many of the nihillistic naysayers who seek to control the thinking and independence of people. When anonymous posters, or anyone wants to engage a conversation on solutions, or how we can better unite to bring resources to our community. The latest post is a continuum of a self-defeating plan of attacking African-American males who express in their movement, independence. Change the course of your thinking and how we engage, and differ, and we would change the plight of our people. Now haters have been on the earth since Cain and Abel, even with Joseph and his brothers, so I most certainly don’t expect it to stop in the St. Louis elections of 2008. But let’s be men or women about this, if one thinks the community, the community that suffers from the highest crime rate, poverty rates, educational deficiencies, STDs gives a damn about all this rhetoric, moreover than these issues, then you’ll dillusional and more part of the problem. Be a people of issues, abandon the whorish ways of blind party loyalty to either Democrat and Republican and serve the interest of people. And ANYTIME, ANYONE wants to share their thoughts or would like to speak on issues, or positions please call me at 573-751-2198 or email me at td.elamin@house.mo.gov., I will certainly answer. Let’s pray for our community and keep in mind those less fortunate. God bless

Blind loyalty to a party. I dont think you could have summed it up any better. I have no problem with any of you stances, I just think they are out of line with core democratic principles. If someone could show me some data that school choice actually works, I’m open to reviewing that information. It will simply be used to subsidize people who already are sending their children to private schools. And if we are going to talk about substantive issues why on God’s green earth did you go to Jeff City filing ‘feel good do nothing legislation’ like naming a highway (kinda like Clay naming a bunch of post offices) and baking soda bills. How did either of those have an effect on the community? I’m supported the land assemblage bill, I dont think it was perfect and I think some amendments could have been added to make it fair and equitable for smaller developers to get invovled. Help me understand why you are supporting Chris Koster (whom Yaphett works for) when he voted to cut over 100,000 missourians off medicaid (many of whom are your constituents), he cut off debate on the voter id bill, voted to sell off the assets of MOHELA, he was against a minimum wage increase and many other things that affects minorities adversely? How could you advocate for maritial law in your own community? I’m not a hater I’m just curious as to how you see these issues affecting your community.

I’m trying to figure out how to unite our community just as you are. But some of your views do run contrary to mine and its absolutely nothing wrong with that. These are real issues and as a concerned citizen, I feel you ARE accountable to the people and your views should represent the distict.

El-Amin and Rodney Hubaard both suck. I am a city resident and I don’t see anything that you or your foolish friends have done to benefit us. You ask those who question/oppose your tactics to call you. Its election time why aren’t you touting your accomplishments? Because there aren’t any you and your friends are selling us out. Take that and all your money to the bank bitches.

Anyone who claims to advocate for African Americans while supporting Paul McKee needs a review of reality.

Douug, those politicians whom are supporting McKee are doing so to enrich their wallets, not for the sake of their citzenry!

Politicians for pay has us paying for $4 for gas and milk!
