Let’s talk solutions.
Whenever politics seek to control our educational system, the Community suffers from a lack of proactive involvement.
The St. Louis Community must provide jobs and skills training for those who do not go on to college.
There is signs of disregard for those of us activists in the community that indeed have positive solutions for our children.
Remember this is just one of the solutions that come to my mind.
The monies $$$$ being spent on building new jails, paying new lawyers for the prosecutor’s office and more police officers on the street would be better spent on teaching our childrfen skills and providing job training for those engulfed in the penal system.
Solution #1 Parents need to raise their children!
Solution #2 The police need to make crime a priority in No. Stl, the blatant disregard for the “LAW” is not by accident.
Solution #3 Follow through on the hype(message)
To Big D.
The Police Department generally does make crime a priority in this city.
The police department cannot solve this problem alone.
Those of us in our community who have lived all our lives in this city know that “community matters”.
If there is no connect to the community-then the problem continues and gets worse.
This is a bit of chicken & egg. Children need a stable enviroment to do well in school. To have that environment parents need jobs. Jobs go to the educated and those willing to work hard. There is no solution until those involved want a solution. Thugs are thugs and are not going to go to work for $8.00 when they can make that in 10 minutes selling on the street. The police are not the answer. More and more the police respond after the fact. This is because when they stop people before the fact they are accused of profiling. So why risk their job? Just show up after the shooting and investigate later.
What can the Mayor do? Nothing! Build a swimming pool? I do not pretend to know the answer but I am sure it will require everyones help.
Each person in that poll has a role. No one person is more important than the other.
BUT- are we talking about crime that leads to violence or just violence in general? My guess is that if you are able to curtail crime and replace it with quality jobs, affordable housing, equal education and good health care your at least starting in the right direction.
Crime and its roots are one of the major stumbling blocks for the City IMO.
One thing that would cut down on crime would be to stop the drug war and focus on crimes where there is actually a victim. Asset forfeiture laws have a distorting effect as well.
With drugs being regulated, more so than alcohol, price would go down, people wouldn’t have to rob (as much) to support their recreation.
One upside is that it would take away a dead end employment path for the bad guys and they would realize that finishing high school in their best interest.
I could go on and on, but the point is made.
legalize drugs and take a big load off of the police, most police resorces are used to catch, try and imprison drug dealers, let the government take control of drugs, put the dealers out of business, and end drig usage…

I don’t think I could put it all in on one person, but everyone on the list has to play a part in chaning the crime rates in the City of St. Louis. I would have liked to see parents added to that list, because of lot of times its the lack of good parenting skills that causes these young criminals to continue doing the only thing they know…and that’s staying in the street.
But if I was just forced to pick someone off that list, it would have to be Chief Mokwa…he is still getting paid to protect and serve and our community.
