Lots of nice things to say but no details. (Not his job, I know) Ms. Simkes, where can we get the details of how you would address the issues Mr. Dyson mentioned? (childcare, healthcare, schools, infrastructure, retirement, etc.)
Jim- http://www.simckesfortreasurer.com/vision.html, and take a look at the other candidates–they don’t have anything like this or this detailed, and what’s more she was the first, and stays in front on policy…she has framed the policy debate because she has the most insight on how to create an office of the Treasurery that actually works for Missourians.
Mr. Duckworth- you may not know this, but I have been following you since Shrewbury/Reed…you always have insightful things to say. Today is no different, Dyson is amazing. So is Ms. Simckes, who has one amazing carrer…
flyover- Michael Eric Dyson is an author, educator, and political pundit of some repute. He has written on Katrina (Come Hell or Highwater) on hip hop (Holler if you Hear Me) Martin Luther King (April 4th, 1968) and 13 other books. He is featured regularly on CNN and MSNBC among others. And he is a really cool laid back guy.
independem, I am not sure if I am hearing sarcasim in that or not…so I will say this. Healthcare is a deeply complex issue and there are many things we can do fix this problem, but only a few things the Treasurer can do directly. If a candidate for State Treasurer started talking about what they can do to restore the healthcare cuts, I’d be warry. That’s pandering. Real leaders look to see what they can do to make a difference, and then use that as lobbying leverage. It’s like MOHELA, or soemthing, it’s legislative, and while there is some power as a member of the cabinet, the Treasurer has to jump through some serious hoops to make a difference on MOHELA. the 529 program is directly within the perview of the department.
We need to get everyone on healthcare, which will reduce the number of Emergency visits. But we also need to make sure that there are hospitols in rural and economically depressed parts of the state. My Grand father was a Doctor in Hospitols in little dixie in the 50’s. And back then he had to drive to Hannibal almost every day for something. If the hospitol in Hannibal would close it’s doors, what the next closest? St. Louis County? St. Charles? that’s what you expect people to drive to?
This is why we need Andria Simckes. She is the candidate that can make the change we need all throuout the state, things that the department can do but isn’t to create jobs and stimulate our economy.
Obviously, he needs to get on Fox News so he can reach the majority of viewers. I haven’t watched CNN since the first Gulf War. I do sometimes flip over to MSNBC becuase on Charter is the next station to Fox, except when that insipid man with the glasses is on.
Perculator,
Thanks, I will check it out. I watched the video on this blog (Reggie’s). She seems righteous at first glance…I’m ashamed to admit I don’t know more…
NObama hasn’t transcended anything but race baiting! NObama feels a since of entitlement to be POTUS without the qualifications, Just Say NO Deal, PUMA!

Andrea Simckes
Did you get more from Dyson? He’s wonderful.
