Four blocks of the O’Fallon Park neighborhood have been deemed a “safe zone” for children to trick-or-treat on this Halloween night.

Twenty-First Ward Committeeman Antonio French has worked with block units, neighborhood activists, police officials, and other elected officials to create a safe and fun environment tonight for kids to experience their neighborhood the way it was meant to be — free from gun fire, and filled with positive activity and cheer.

“Trick-or-treating is an activity that not only brings joy to children, but allows neighbors to meet neighbors,” said French. “When neighbors are no longer strangers, everyone feels more invested in the neighborhood.”

In addition to the trick-or-treating, tonight’s event will also feature an outdoor movie presented by Frontyard Features. Candy has been supplied to participating homes by the 21st Ward Democrats. Police officers will be on patrol in the safe zone all evening.
