Day One Comes to an End

Filed Monday, August 25, 2008 at 12:00 PM

As the first day of the Democratic National Convention comes to an end, members of the Missouri delegation are unwinding with beers furnished by hometown brewery Anheuser-Busch at a happy hour in the hotel lobby.

St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley, former Gov. Bob Holden, State Senators Maida Coleman and Chris Koster, and Aldermen Stephen Gregali, April Ford-Griffin, and Kacie Starr Triplett are among the three or four dozen in attendance.

Much of the conversation is about Michelle Obama’s speech. “It brought tears to my eyes,” said one woman.

There are a few complaints about CNN not airing Sen. Claire McCaskill’s speech. “I bet she’s pissed,” said one delegate at the bar.

Hmmm… This “American Lager” stuff ain’t half bad. More videos tomorrow.
